How does one decide where to get a good cigar? First rule of cigars is stay away from anything that is sold at a gas station on corner market. You can truly find a better place than this! "Yes, could I have a big soda, chips and a cigar?" Most cigar smoker go to two place to find a cigar B&M (Brick and Mortar) or online cigar shop. Now you will come across those out there that say, "Stay away from online." I would disagree, sometimes you can get a great deal or sampler to see what brand may tickle your fancy. But if you are looking for a great cigar quick than visit the B&M. The people there have a lot of knowledge on brands, blends and basics. Remember the myth! Color of the cigar wrapper doesn't tell you the strength of a cigar. Cutting like a pro is a non complex science, but still has a method to prevent a unpleasant experience. Basically you want to cut the cap off the head, too much and your cigar will come apart. Just cut enough that you can get a good smoke while not distorting the cigar. And for GOD's sake DO NOT BITE the end off. Finally, Lighting the cigar for best experience. Some will tell you only a wooden match while other say doesn't matter as long as you get it lit. Butane torch lighters are my preference, regular lighters may give your cigar that taste. Remember not to light your cigar off someone else's, you will find a upset person if tried or injury. Never ask someone if you can have a puff of a cigar they are smoking, and make sure to be polite on were smoke is blown. Finally enjoy the cigar and remember this is not a cigarette and you do not inhale.
