Asylum 7x70

The Asylum Asylum cigars are meant to appeal to a broad audience by being affordable with a reliable but bold taste profile. The tobacco is a Nicaraguan Puro. The wrapper, filler and binder leaves all originate from the same country. A high caliber Puro is an achievement in a business where the balance of flavor is usually achieved by mixing very different leaves from multiple countries. The wrapper is a handsomely dark and toothy maduro. When a cigar is described as having “tooth” it refers to the concentrated pockets of oil that are scattered throughout the wrapper like fine goosebumps. All tobaccos contain some oil, but it is simply a matter of how much. The extra oil bestows an increase in flavor and aroma to the smoking experience Origin : Nicaraguan Wrapper : Nicaraguan Puro Filler : Nicaraguan Puro Binder : Nicaraguan Puro Hand-Made Size: 7 X 70 Cost: $8.00 Time to Smoke: 120 mins

Pre-Light: Draw is clean, smooth and has notes of caramel, hay, tobacco, and coffee.

1/3: Right off of pepper, tobacco, and leather notes. One thing you notice about this cigar is the exceptional draw. I was surprised by the opening compared to the cold draw..

2/3: The once prominent pepper subsides to give way to notes of cocoa, coffee, tobacco, and a nuance of leather and oak. The Draw still is awesome, and no touch up needed.

3/3: Notes of pepper and tobacco are back, same as the 1/3. Such a great smoke you may smoke it to the nub.

While this cigar isn’t very complex, for the price it has some amazing flavors and burns beautifully.

Overall rating: 7/10
